I don't know what to do after being convicted for shoplifting?

Hi, Ive been convicted of shop lifting for merchandise of about $800 in New York. It is my first time being arrested. I am 20 years old. My court date is in about a month and I don't know what to do. I am scared about what will happen to me. Please give me some guidance and an idea of what will happen. I am very desperate and scared.
