Dumb motorcycle question..?

I am thinking about purchasing a motorcycle and going through the training program soon. The only thing that has kinda got me questioning if now is the right time to get one, is that my apartment doesn't allow motorcycles. i would need to store it in my apartment (which i am ok with). i live on the first floor, but my question is if it is feasible to lift/roll my bike everyday over an 8" curb outside? will it damage the bike? i obviously don't know too much about them, but i am a learn as i go kind of person...
