Why does LA have sprawling ghettos and such a difference between Rich in poor unlike Toronto and Montreal?

That difference in wealth is something you will find in every American city, not just Los Angeles. We have both obscene wealth and abject poverty. It's always been that way and it always will. I cannot imagine how that would surprise anyone.
